I have always loved drawing and painting and have been experimenting with form, texture and colour in many ways from a young age. After excelling in GCSE and A-Level Art at school, it seemed natural to follow on with an Art & Design foundation course at university, which led to a degree in Visual Communication Design (Illustration).
I happened to venture off on an alternate path and was stationed in the West End throughout a 20-year career, holding positions for international leading brand companies in marketing/sales, retail, design/architecture and real estate investment.
During this time, I was additionally undertaking commissions and painting for family/friends/ colleagues whilst finding opportunities to promote and exhibit my work.
I readily absorbed significant skills from the business world and found that I had gleaned a wealth of experience in dealing with people, primarily at the higher levels of society.
I am a definite people person and place great importance on gaining a good rapport between sitter and artist. I once discovered that the word MAGICAL can be made from my name and whether or not it is a characteristic also true by nature, I strive to evoke a touch of magic in every piece of art I create.
“A truly talented artist who has painted an incredibly life-like, detailed portrait - the whole family were completely amazed. I was very pleasantly surprised by the likeness and impressed by the colourful and delicate brushwork. It really is me!” - Gerald Coldham
